(Ph.D., University of Lugano and Zurich - Prodoc; Associate Professor of CTV) Vincenzo De Masi for 4 years was Associate professor in Art and Media Technology for New York Institute of Technology where he taught Cinema, TV and New Media (for graduate and undergraduate students). He obtained his Ph.D. at University of Lugano and Zurich (ProDoc) with a dissertation on Creative industries in Asia focusing on China. In Lugano was assistant professor for several years. His research focuses on Social Media in Asia and VR production . He has published numerous articles and collective books on these subjects. Founder and Director with Dr. Massiliano D’Ambra of Italian Film Summer School Veneto.

  • 7thNovember 2019, Lecturer VR Workshop NYIT Beijing , Communication University of China (ICUC, 中国传媒大学)
  • July 2019, I have organized the 2019 Veneto Film Summer School in Italy called “The Life in Walled Cities” in collaboration with Region Veneto and Association walled Cities. The Italian government fully finances board, accommodation and transport in Italy for all Chinese students (18, this year) for the creation of Documentaries and promo videos in VR. Students involved attending Xiamen University of Technology, Zhongyuan University of Technology, Shandong University, New York Institute of Technology Beijing, Communication University of China and the United International College Zhuhai (Hong Kong Baptist University and Beijing Normal University). Makoto Hirose (https://veer.tv/vr/makotohirose/home ) will be invited for a VR workshop. The video created by the students will be distributed on the Veer platform.

The exhibition was organized with Region Apulia sponsorship and other public institutes. At the exhibition there were also some traditional artworks of my students of art of NYIT Beijing from 2015 to now (Sept. 2016 – Jan. 2017)
  • Sept. – Dec. 2016, director of the documentary about the life and art of Liang Zhichao, the painter of traditional painting.
  • June- July 2016, Team leader for the Graduate NYIT Students (TV/Film and CGA and Graphic Design) of Silk Road film (ICUC), we created a documentary called The old weapons factory in Shandong province.
  • Oct. 2016, visit to the museum UCCA (Ullens Center for Contemporary Art) with the Graduate students of Computer Graphic Animation (CGA), the exhibition was about the famous Chinese painter Zeng Fanzhi. The visit lasted more than 3 hours and it was connected with the aesthetic concepts of Art and Media of my course of Aesthetic Theory.
  • Oct. 2016, as professor of Aesthetic Theory I have organized and visited Parkview Green with the students of Computer Graphic Animation (CGA). In Parkview Green there were several exhibitions of international contemporary art and a special exhibition about Italian contemporary art. 4 hours dedicated to the visit and discussion about aesthetic of the art.
  • Oct. 2016, with my students of CGA I have organized the meeting with the Chinese painter Zeng Fanzhi at Tsinghua University Auditorium.
  • Nov. 2016, as professor of Art I have organized and visited the Museum in the Forbidden City with the students of Graduate of CGA. 6 hours dedicated to the visit and discussion of the Chinese art.
  • Nov 2016, with the undergraduate students of CGA&GD I have visited the Media Museum in CUC Beijing Campus, topic of discussion and debate in the class of Foundations in Speech.
  • Nov 2016, guest professor for evaluating the presentation of the projects of the course of Concept, Character and Storytelling of the Graduate students of CGA, held by prof. Gabriel Teo. I had to comment and give an evaluation to the projects.
  • Nov. 2016, I have organized cultural activities called American Cinema: with my students and colleagues of NYIT we went to watch Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk (2016) at the Jinyi International Cinema (Beijing).
  • Dec. 2016, with the students of Film and TV in the contest of the course in TV Production workshop I have invited the reporter Kae Hashioka (TV Asahi, Tokyo) of international news in order to know how her TV in Tokyo works.
  • Dec. 2016, I have organized the trip to Fujian province with CGA students with the aim to visit an important UNESCO heritage called Tulou as "exceptional examples of a building tradition and function exemplifying a particular type of communal living and defensive organization [in a] harmonious relationship with their environment".
  • Dec. 2016, I have organized the vision of 5 short documentaries created by the students of TV Production workshop. The vision is open to all the students and colleagues of NYIT.

  • Venice Film Festival 2020 (Italy),from 2018 to 2020 Italian Government financed the Italian Film Summer School Veneto for only Chinese Students, a video shooted by the students attending the Summer School was presented at Venice Film Festival 2020.
